Communication and Test Systems

*
VEGA has a long heritage in and great experience of designing, developing, and implementing Communication and Test Systems for the aerospace market including several international space agencies, prime operators and customers.

Communication Systems

Communication systems are used in several places in the ground segment, in order to allow the different components of the ground segment to communicate in efficient ways. Communication systems like gateways, protocol converters, and routing systems are always needed, as are the systems, which allow the space segment to communicate with mission control centre and data processing centre. Gateways are used to connect disparate systems, using established or emerging standards.

Space Link Extensions

VEGA is famous in the Space Link Extensions (SLE) domain, having played a key role and led development of the SLE API and SLE-based systems. VEGA’s SLE-related activities include:

  • Developing SLE user and provider systems and SLE gateways for space agencies, spacecraft operators and ground segment systems vendors
  • Developing SLE Service Management applications, allowing proper management of SLE-based systems and proper cross-support services
  • Providing support and training to space agencies and customers for helping for the development or conversion of ground segments to SLE.

VEGA has developed several communication systems in the space and wider aerospace domains. Through our expertise, we have built-up an infrastructure and libraries using modern technology and component techniques, that are used for the production of communication systems in a very efficient and cost-effective way.

Test Systems

VEGA has participated in the development of several test systems for testing ground segment applications and several various operational systems. This has enabled VEGA to develop an efficient infrastructure for the implementation of test systems and to develop tool sets.

Today, VEGA develops test systems for the testing of distributed operational systems, ground station equipment, and operational simulators. Ad-hoc systems based on VEGA’s test infrastructure (including test automation), are developed to meet the customer needs. These systems are used not only in the development phase to check the system(s) under test, but also in the specification phase to exercise operational scenarios, and in the maintenance and support phases to run non-regression tests.
